Fishing in and Around Apalachicola

The area: 

Some of the finest sport fishing is available on your visit to Apalachicola. Redfish, Grouper, Sea Trout, cobia, mackeral, king, to name a few. You can fish in the bay, in the rivers, in the salt marshes, in the artificial cut in St George Island, or out in the Gulf of Mexico proper.

In the late summer through the end of September, the bay is rife with tarpon.  What a sport, having one of these powerhouses striking your bait or lure and running....especially if you like to fish with light tackle.

If you bring your own boat, the public boat landing (6 boats wide)  is just under the bridge, and is one of the finest boat launching facilities around. It's just a few miles to the cut, Indian pass, or up into the Apalachicola River.

Artificial Reefs Around Apalachicola

This listing of artificial reefs sites is extracted from the Florida Fish & Wildlife Commission. Some of these reefs are reported to be over twenty years old so there is no guarantee they have all survived the storms of the years. Others are brand new and a few still have not been deployed. Some sites are in Loran C and others list Longitude and Latitude.
